Hi guys!! I'm Erica Stolman and I am the blogger over at Fashionlush as well as co-owner/graphic designer of blog-doo, a (really rad) blog design company.
+ when did you start blogging ?
I started blogging wayyyy back when 2008, when blogging first became a "thing".
I was in college working towards my degree in Fashion Merchandising & wanted an outlet to share all of my experiences and inspirations, so starting a blog just kinda made sense at that point in my life. At first, it was strictly a hobby as I needed to focus on my education, but once I graduated it took center stage of my life & has now grown into what it is today!
My second born baby! blog-doo is a blog design company created in 2013 by myself and Lauryn Evarts from The Skinny Confidential.
We both eat/sleep/& breathe blogging, so we really wanted to create a service for bloggers by bloggers. The most important factor in starting a blog, in our opinion, is the design. It's like a first impression, if someone comes to your blog & it's a hot mess, they will probably leave shortly. If your blog looks clean, organized, & beautiful, you're more likely to have readers stick around.
With Lauryn's eye for design & my graphic/web design skills, we joined forces to bring fellow bloggers a one stop shop for getting the blog of their dreams! You can check out some of our work here.
+ fav photography tip ?
Natural light! i literally just turned down my dream loft because there just wasn't enough natural light. You can really shoot with any camera (even iPhone) for your blog as long as you have enough natural light. Also, white poster board is my BFF. I like my images to be very minimalistic, so this is my go-to backdrop! ( << totally stealing this idea ! )
+ what's your fav topic to blog about ?
Ooh, that's tough! I love blogging about anything/everything, but if I'd have to choose I really love the "Rich Girl | Poor Girl" series.
Basically, it's a designer dupe series.
I think bloggers style/looks can often be unattainable due to the hefty price tags, so I like to find poor girl alternatives to those rich girl buys (i.e. the Givenchy Sheath Boots) for all of us who just can't justify spending a months rent on a trendy pair of shoes!
+ health/wellness tip you swear by ?
Ginger shots! I started drinking ginger shots in Copenhagen this past year & ever since I've been hooked. I have one when I wake up (most) mornings. It give me a ton of energy, strengthens the immune system, aids in digestion, boost metabolism, & detoxifies. You can order them up at your local juice spot or you can make them yourself. + fav go-to healthy food ?
Carrot pasta! I always keep shredded carrots in the fridge & whip this up for dinner on the reg. I don't eat gluten, so it's become my pasta replacement. You can see how I make it here.
+ mantra ?
"Go the extra mile. It's never crowded"
+ fav beauty product ?
Right now, I am obsessed with Mary-Lou Manizer by theBalm. I've been on a longggg search for the best highlighter, & this is definitely it. I apply it on my cheekbones & the bridge of my nose to get that Kim Kardashian style glow.
+ what does a typical day look like ?
Wake up, eat a hardboiled egg/drink my ginger shot, check emails, spell check the blog post of the day & publish it (I typically get them ready to go the night before), share that post on social media, and then I either go out with my photographer to do some outfit posts OR photograph a blog post or two at home.
Like I said before, I need natural light for photos, so any/everything photography related happens during the day. Once the sun goes down, I most likely go to a barre class, eat dinner, & work at the computer on the next days post for Fashionlush and/or blog-doo clients until bedtime!

Wow! Erica's blog is amazing! I click over at the beginning of your interview & was amazed with her layout. Come to find out she does layouts for living. Haha. I definitely a huge proponent for natural lighting, too. It's very important. (I feel like my dream loft would have a lot of natural light.) I am REALLY intrigued by the ginger shot. I will definitely be following both of your blogs on Bloglovin'!

This was an awesome interview Elle! I love getting insight into what a day in the life of other bloggers is like. With a full time job, mine usually involves lots of evening/weekend/morning work, good thing I love it! :)
